Subscriptions & connections
Start with where the issue occurs: your account, client, route, or order. Select a question to expand the answer. If you need more help, keep the error message and submit a support ticket.
Accounts & subscriptions
Check your account status first, then review the client configuration. Keep your login details and subscription link somewhere secure.
Do I need an email address to create an account?
No email address is required. Create an account with a username and password from the account creation page in the user dashboard, then store them somewhere safe. Your username identifies your account, while your password is used to sign in; neither is the same as a route name in your client. A password manager is a good way to keep your login details safe. If you have trouble signing in, check your keyboard input, capitalization, and any leading or trailing spaces, then see what help is available on the support page.
How do I update my subscription link, and when should I import it again?
Sign in to the user dashboard and check your plan status and remaining data, then find the option in your client to update the current subscription. After updating, check that the route list has refreshed and select a route to connect. If the client says the address is invalid, return to the dashboard to get the subscription details again, replace the old configuration, and update it. Changing a route name alone won't change the subscription source. Treat your subscription link like an account credential: don't post it in public forums or send it to an unfamiliar subscription-conversion site.
Do I need to buy another plan to switch devices? Can I connect multiple devices at once?
There is no device limit, and switching devices does not require another purchase. Sign in to the same account on your new device, get the client for that platform, and import your subscription. Your plan status and data allowance remain as shown in the user dashboard; switching devices does not create a separate allowance. Keep an eye on total data use across devices, since video streaming, file syncing, and background updates can all use data. When you stop using an old device, remove the saved subscription configuration so your account details aren't left on it.
Which platforms are supported, and where can I get the client?
VPNName supports Windows / macOS / iOS / Android / Linux. Get the client from the client page in the user dashboard rather than searching the web for an installer. After signing in, you can get the client for Windows, macOS, Android, and Linux. For iOS, your account needs an active plan to access the download. Once installed, follow the guide for your platform to import your subscription and allow the system to add a VPN configuration. If a permissions prompt appears, check the app's source and the action you're taking before granting access; don't dismiss system prompts without reviewing them.
What's the difference between my account password and subscription link? Can I send them to support?
Your account password lets you sign in to the user dashboard, while your subscription link lets your client retrieve route configuration. They serve different purposes, but both should be kept secure. VPNName's privacy policy says it keeps no logs; that doesn't mean account credentials should be shared publicly. When reporting an issue, start with your operating system, the message shown in the client, and what you were doing. Hide your password, full subscription link, and sensitive payment details in screenshots. If you think your link has been exposed, check whether the dashboard offers a reset option, update the configuration on your devices, and explain the situation in a support ticket.
Connections & troubleshooting
Check your local network, client status, and target app separately. Change one thing at a time so you can compare results and keep track of what worked.
The client says it's connected, but websites won't load. What should I check first?
A connected status usually means the client has established a connection; it doesn't confirm that a particular website is reachable. Disconnect and check whether your local network can open familiar sites. Once your local connection is working, connect to a route and test the target page. Then check the selected route, whether your subscription is up to date, and whether your plan is still active. If the problem seems browser-specific, try another browser or a private window. You can also visit the network check page to see whether your exit IP has changed, but that alone doesn't mean every app is using the same route.
Why does my browser work, but a particular app doesn't use the proxy?
Apps handle network traffic differently, and system proxy settings may not cover all traffic. Check the client's current mode and split-tunneling rules, and see whether the app is excluded. If your client offers a system VPN or TUN mode, check its permissions using the guide for your platform. Fully quit and reopen the app after changing settings so it doesn't keep using an old connection. Don't run multiple tools that take over network traffic at the same time. If the issue continues, note the app name, error message, and current mode, then submit a support ticket. Don't post your full subscription configuration publicly.
What should I do if importing my subscription fails or the route list is empty?
First, make sure you can sign in to the user dashboard and that your plan is active, then copy the subscription details again. Check that the text doesn't contain extra spaces, line breaks, or notes added by a messaging app, and make sure you're using an import method supported by your client. If an existing configuration opens but won't update, keep the error message, then get the configuration again to compare. An empty route list may also be caused by configuration parsing or your local network; it doesn't necessarily mean every route is unavailable. When submitting a ticket, say whether the failure occurred while retrieving, importing, or updating the subscription.
The system asks for network permissions after installation. What should I do?
To establish a system-level connection, the client may need permission to add a VPN configuration, enable a network extension, or access network settings. Get the client from the user dashboard and follow the guide for your platform to grant permission, then return to the app and check its connection status. If you previously denied access, review the app's permissions in system settings; repeatedly importing the subscription won't grant them. On a device managed by your employer or school, check its management policies first. If you can't change network settings, the client's connect button can't override system permissions.
My connection drops often. What information should I gather to troubleshoot it?
First, check whether disconnections happen after your screen locks, you switch networks, start another network tool, or use a particular app. Review background activity and battery-saving settings, then test again on a stable local network. Update the subscription, try another route for comparison, and note whether the same action still causes a drop. To get help, open a ticket from the user dashboard and include your operating system, client, route region, network environment, and any error message. A description of what happened is more useful than simply saying the connection doesn't work. Remember to hide your account credentials in screenshots.
Speed & routes
Route region, network path, and third-party account requirements are separate factors. Choose a route for your use case, and don't treat a connected status as a guarantee that a platform will be accessible.
When things slow down at peak times, should I switch routes or change settings first?
Leave the client settings as they are, pause background downloads and syncing, and check that other tasks aren't using your local connection. Then switch routes in the same app and compare the results. Avoid changing the region, mode, and split-tunneling rules all at once, or you won't know which change helped. Peak-time performance depends on your local ISP, the route, and the target service's load; routes in the same region can still take different paths. If the slowdown occurs in a specific situation, include the time, network environment, and comparison results in a support ticket.
How should I choose between an IEPL line, a relayed route, and a direct route?
These terms describe network paths; the name alone doesn't tell you how well a route will work. IEPL lines, relayed routes, and direct routes use different path setups, while your local network and the target service also affect performance. For everyday use, start with a route that meets the target region's requirements and compare options in the same app. Check whether the connection stays up and pages load fully. Don't prioritize a route type over how it performs in practice. For guidance on route types and pricing, see our route selection guide and choose based on your own use case.
Do coverage and route counts mean every website will be accessible?
Coverage across 100+ countries and 180+ routes shows the range of network options; it doesn't mean every website accepts every exit IP. Third-party services may determine access based on region, account status, payment details, and their own rules. A successful client connection doesn't override those requirements. Check which regions the target service supports, then use a relatively consistent exit location. The global routes page shows examples and route types; the configurations currently available in your dashboard and client are the source of truth.
An AI tool says my region isn't supported. Will switching exit routes fix it?
Not necessarily. AI tools may check your exit region, account details, session status, and their own risk controls, so switching routes can't guarantee access will be restored. Check the service's supported regions and choose an eligible route, then confirm your browser or app is actually using that connection. Keep the error message, and if needed, sign out of the old session and sign in again. Avoid repeatedly switching regions in a short period. VPNName provides network connectivity; it doesn't review accounts for third-party platforms or guarantee that a particular tool will work.
How can I tell whether poor video quality or an unavailable-content message is the problem?
Poor video quality usually calls for checking playback settings, local network usage, and connection stability. An unavailable-content message may instead relate to regional availability, account permissions, or content licensing. Try different videos on the same route and check the platform's message to distinguish ongoing buffering from an explicit regional restriction. You can compare with a route that meets the platform's regional requirements, but a route name isn't a guarantee that streaming content will be available. If the video app is holding on to an old session, quit and reopen it. The platform decides what content it makes available.
Billing & refunds
Monthly plans and data add-ons are billed separately. Before paying, upgrading, or requesting a refund, check your plan and order details in the dashboard.
How much do monthly plans cost, and when does the data reset?
Monthly plans are ¥9.9/month for 60GB, ¥18/month for 250GB, and ¥28/month for 500GB. Data resets monthly on your activation date. This isn't a calendar-month reset shared by all accounts; check your user dashboard for your plan's status. When choosing a tier, consider your usual video streaming, file transfers, and use across multiple devices. No device limit doesn't mean unlimited data. The plans and pricing page has full billing details. If your data balance looks wrong, check your plan and activation details before submitting a ticket.
How much do data add-ons cost, and do they expire?
Data add-ons cost ¥158 for 300GB, ¥358 for 1000GB, and ¥658 for 3000GB. They remain available until used and never expire. Add-ons are billed differently from monthly plans, which reset on the activation date; monthly reset rules don't apply to add-ons. If your usage is irregular, compare which option best fits your needs and check the plans page for full details. Confirm your current plan type in the dashboard. Before switching from an existing plan, review the confirmation page to see how the change will be handled. If anything is unclear, ask through a support ticket.
How is a mid-term upgrade calculated, and what happens to my current plan?
When you upgrade a monthly plan partway through its term, the price difference is converted into remaining days. Choose your new plan in the user dashboard and review the displayed changes before confirming. Don't assume the difference translates into extra data or other benefits. Before upgrading, check whether slowdowns are caused by your route or local network; changing your data tier won't fix every connection issue. If the confirmation page doesn't match your expectations, stop and submit a ticket with your current plan, the plan you're switching to, and the information shown. Don't resubmit an order based on guesswork.
Which payment methods are supported, and what should I do if my plan doesn't appear after payment?
VPNName supports Alipay / WeChat Pay / USDT. Start the payment process from the plans page in the user dashboard and check the plan and amount on your order. After paying, return to the dashboard to check the order and plan status, then update your client subscription. A return page from your payment app doesn't confirm that your route configuration has updated. If the order and plan details don't match yet, refresh the dashboard and check again before paying a second time. If you still need help, submit a ticket with the relevant order details and proof of payment with sensitive information obscured. Never share your login password or full subscription link.
How do I request a refund, and what information should I provide?
VPNName offers a 7-day no-questions-asked refund. Before applying, read the refund policy, sign in to the user dashboard, and explain your request in a support ticket with relevant order details for verification. If you're also having connection problems, you can include what happened and any error messages, but you don't need to keep changing client settings to request a refund. Check for updates in the same ticket and add any further information there. Eligibility and handling are subject to the refund policy. This page makes no separate promise about processing time and does not ask you to share your password or full subscription link.
